On the slopes of Monte Moarda, overlooking the immense valley of the "Conca d'Oro", Altofonte, which boasts ancient and noble origins, was the residence and hunting center of the Norman King Roger. its name derives from the numerous springs that cross the upper part of the town. with its over one thousand hectares of wood it represents the "green lung" of the metropolitan area of Palermo.
